Passenger & Driver Rules

IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN SUNDAY’S DRIFT COLORADO COMPETITION: DRIVERS MUST CONTACT DRIFT COLORADO HERE>

Passenger & Driver Rules:

  • Passengers and Drivers must be at least 16 years old
  • Passengers are not allowed in Friday Night Drift Practice
  • Passengers must keep limbs inside of vehicle
  • Passengers must wear a seat belt at all times
  • No motorcycles on courses, cars only
  • Drivers must be wearing a driver wristband
  • Passengers must be wearing a passenger wristband
  • Lost driver or passenger wristbands are not re-issued, participant must pay for another
  • Passengers in tandem drift cars must have all required safety features present that are required for the driver side of the car, including proper seat, harness, Snell rated helmet, etc.

Helmet Rules:

  • Helmets in single run drift cars must be DOT or better
  • All helmets must be strapped properly when riding in the car
  • All helmets worn in tandem drift runs must be SA Snell rated 2005 or newer (passengers and drivers).

Vehicle Rules:

Vehicle Preparation: PPIR will not be inspecting vehicles prior to entering the racing surface. It is the responsibility of each individual to make certain that his or her vehicle is track worthy. The following items should be thoroughly inspected/set before arriving to the raceway:

ALL DRIVERS PARTICIPATING IN PPIR OPEN DRIFT ACTIVITIES AND SATURDAY NIGHT DRAGS WILL BE PROVIDED A TECH CARD THAT MUST BE FILLED OUT IN ITS ENTIRETY AND SIGNED BY THE DRIVER

  • Tires in good condition, no older than 5 years (safe tread, sidewalls undamaged, valve stems ok, etc.)
  • Tire pressures are properly set (refer to vehicle manufacturer settings)
  • All lug nuts are torqued and present (refer to vehicle manufacturer specifications)
  • Hubcaps and trimmings (if not secured by lug nuts) are removed from vehicle
  • No play in wheel bearings
  • Minimal play in steering linkage
  • Brake system in good condition (pads, rotors, lines, etc.)
  • Fluid levels are set (engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering, coolant, brake fluid, etc.)
  • No fluid leaks from the vehicle of any kind
  • Fuel level is set (arrive to the track with a full tank, there is no fuel available at PPIR)
  • Vehicle is free of loose items (including the trunk)
  • Battery is properly secured
  • No exposed electrical wires
  • Hoses and lines are securely fastened and routed properly and safely
  • Fully functional seat belts in good condition (factory stock or better required)
